Backup SRM configurations

I need to upgrade from VI 3.5 to vSphere 4.1 on a customer with SRM. Since 4.1 needs vCenter 64bit, I need to reinstall both vCenter servers (and their SRM modules).

I'll need to know if is possible to backup or export SRM configurations (recovery plans, etc...), and import to the new vCenter in order to avoid fully reconfigure Protection groups , recovery plans, and so on.

Thanks in advance

regards, Davide

Hi,

This is possible. But little bit complicated, since you have to upgrade to SRM 4.0 first and only then to SRM 4.1.

The following KB will help you:

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=1024175

Unless you have complex SRM setup with plenty of recovery plans, protection groups etc., I would recommend you to start from scratch.

This will prevent strange unexpected issues that may come after the upgrade.

Michael.
