Mak sure the sync driver and VSS providers have been installed with VMware Tools (for version below 4). It is not installed by default on below 4 version.

If it's a busy transactional systems, like SQL, Exchange and Domain Controllers you should never use a snapshot based backup. Agent based is the way to go.

For image level recovery remove sync and VSS providers and take a crash consistent backup. Recovery would be crash consistent backup + latest data from agent.

Hi, Which mean I got to re-install the vmware tools and remove the sync option in order for me to solve the snapshot cause my Exchange services issue right? But again I have to restore my data from the agent backup to fully recover my Exchange right?

Yes, agent based restoration. under vmware tools installation go to modify and remove those un-needed vss and sync drivers.
