Getting vmkctl.HostCtlException trying to install ESXi 4.1 on HP Z600

I am trying to install ESXi 4.1 on a HP Z600 desktop but failed at the very beginning with error

"vmkctl.HostCtlException Unable to load module /usr/lib/vmware/vkmod/vmfs3: Failure".

The error does not give any specifics as to whether there is an issue with the exiting hardware. We can enter the support mode with "root" access. But not sure how to troubleshoot from that point on.

We see it has created a root partition with 1.3 GB and no other partitions.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Ash.

After contacting VMWare support, the answer I got was, HP Z600 is not on their harware compatibility list.

We've successfully installed ESXi 4.1 Installable Update 1 (CD ISO) on an HP Z600.  We installed to a USB flash drive.  The factory-installed optical drive was not supported by the ESXi installer.  An external USB optical drive was used instead.  See the attached PDF for detailed instructions.
