Greets.
Sorry for the extreme noob-ness of this question:
From the vSphere Client,
- new vm
- (o) typical
- named the machine, chose a host, datastore, ms windows, xp pro 64bit, 8gb thin disk, finish
voila'! new machine.
put xp 64bit bootable cd in host machine's dvd reader
selected new (guest) machine, clicked connect to cd, connect to host device, only 1 to choose = /dev/scd0, ok
power on
bios, boot, cd first
drops to pix - nic boot.
==note==
i've used that same dvd drive to load vcenter and crearte another 64bit xp guest machine
the guest os installation pdf from vmware states, drop in the cd and power on.
ideas?
tia.
connect at power on is checked? Also, maybe try client device and use your local CD/DVD drive to mount the media to the guest.

you could also try creating an ISO and then selecting to mount it vs. the physical media. ImgBurn is free and simple to use to creat an ISO. http://www.imgburn.com/
O my... ok. Set to connect at power on.
Like I said, am total noob at this.
Correct goes to Troy (as was 1st to respond), Helpful to dkraut.
