Help needed - What is min. hw required to install for ESXI 3.5 ;

Hi all

I have a Pentium4 /2GB RAM/ 160G hdd(HP machine)

If I need to install VMWare ESXI (3.0 / 3.5) what are recommended hw..

please advise.. (is it possible on Intel based machines).

Hi Sam,

Welcome to the forums.

Have a look at the ESX Server 3 and VirtualCenter Installation Guide, on page 21, you will find hardware requirements for ESX 3.5.

If you have only one processor, it will not be supported but you'll be able to play with it. Don’t except too high performance...

Update: doc for 3i, looks more restrictive for supported hardware with 3i, but you can give it a try on your hardware.

Hi, welcome to the communities

first you have to check with your processor that supports Intel-VT (Virtualization Technology) or not. Using CPU ID (cpu-z) software you can come to know that. first check with that, if your cpu supports virtualization technoligy then you can further think about installing esx. otherwise you have to think about your system upgradation.
