vApp Networking without vCloud Director?

I'm trying to create an internal network for a single vApp (with or without child vApps) to use for software requirements. vApps allow for proper starting order of VMs in a single deployable package, but I have not found the ability to create an internal vApp network. For example if I install some software that requires hard coded IP addresses and the vApp is redeployed, how can I be sure that the internal networking is setup properly?

I'm posting this in vCD because I have found documentation that vCloud has these features available to vApps. Mainly this document: http://www.yellow-bricks.com/2010/09/07/vcd-networking-part-1-intro/.

Is there a way to perform this same functionality without vCD? I have acquired the trial of vCD but this seems much more overhead for this single feature that I would need (IE domains, vShield Manager, oracle DBs...)

Thanks!

Hi there

vApps in vSphere and vCD are slightly different.

vApp networks are only available in vCD as this has the required functionality, also you can create vShield edge devices that can do NATing and Firewall rules
