Pythons sleep is running too fast on a virtual machine?

We are running vSphere 4.0.0 Update 1a on Dell PowerEdge 2950 machine. We are having a strange problem. Pythons sleep is running too fast, and Top updating display is too fast on Red Hat 5.3 virtual machine. If I restart the vSphere host the problem is gone. Does anyone know what the problem can be?

I have fixed the problem. I you update your ESX 4.0 too build 261974 or newer the problem disappears.
