ESXi 4.1 futur patches

Hi all,

I've got a vCenter Server 4.1 and licensed ESX 4.1 with Update Manager, and everything's working fine for the updates

.

But i've got 4 ESXi 4.1 with no licence and i would like to know how i could upgrade them with patches in the future. I used to upgrade them with vSphere Client and VMware Host Update Utility (when i was in 4.0), but i realized that Host Update isn't used anymore in version 4.1.

I can't use Update Manager too, so i really don't know how i'm going to proceed when patches will be released.

I know how to upgrade ESXi/ESX 4.0 to 4.1 with CLI, but does it work with updates/patches?

Thanks.

You'll use vihostupdate from the vCLI to patch your hosts just as you did for the upgrade from 4.0 to 4.1.

Do you have a system or PCI card working with VMDirectPath? Submit your specs to the Unofficial VMDirectPath HCL.

OK.

Because the fact is that so as to update my ESXi, i downloaded the package, went on my ESXi(s) with SSH and run the command "esxupdate update -m metadata.zip" that was extracted from the package.

I will take a look at vihostupdate. Thanks
