Hi,
Has anyone built a WinPE image that boots and accepts PowerCLI commands like Invoke-Script or Copy-VMguestfile?
I know you can't put Powershell within the WinPE image because of the lack of .NET. But if WinPE is running VMware Tools, it should still be able to run .bat files called from Invoke-Script, correct?
Any help is much appreciated.
thanks,
mike
Mike - the vcruntimes are no problem here.
In both WinPE 1 and WinPE 3 I install them on the fly directly after boot.

You just run vcredist_x86.exe?
When we try that, we get the same "the system cannot execute the specificed program". I'm wondering if we didn't build the WinPE image correctly?
Mike - which version of WinPE are you talking about ?
I use PE based on 2k3 EE for 32 bit and based on Win 7 for 64 bit. In both varaiants I have a msi-installer so that I can add apps on the fly.br>
In the 32bit PE I have vmtoolsd running as a process without the runtime issues you mentioned
