Silent data corruption

Hello,

One of my biggest fears is silent data corruption.

What protections are in the VMFS to avoid them?

FYI - the storage will be Netapp devices with RAID4.

Hi,

Any specific things that you've heard of? It's not that normal..

There is a bug with HP systems and vSphere 4.1 that causes silent data corruption, there is a fix for it.

Yes, I have heard of the NMI HP bug and I am going to patch my hosts.

I'm talking more about general data corruption. For example, does the VMFS have double parity to check for errors? My Netapp devices have double parity at the RAID level, but I'm wondering about non-DP devices. I guess I'm trying to compare to the ZFS file system, which has mutiple parity built into what they tout as a basically corruption-proof file system.
