VI Client Drops Connection at Random

We recently (last spring) moved our Virtual Center 2.5 host from an IBM HS20 Blade to an HP DL360-G5, which has a dual-core CPU and twice the memory. Ever since the move, I've had an issue that if a user or users are connected to the VC server via the VI client, the client will drop the connection. All the drops are completely at random: if I'm working in the client and doing multiple tasks, it drops, or if it's idle and I'm away from my desk, it drops. The typical warning message is "The VI Client has lost the connection to the <name> server. Would you like to reconnect?" Yes brings me back to the login window and No will drop me to my desktop. I've made calls to VMware Tech Support and have had the call bump to the next tier up, but all we've done so far is collect Wireshark logs and so forth, with no obvious errors showing up. The host does not have anything in the event log that stands out. Things we've done to try to fix the issue:

1 - Compressed the size of our database, which is on a seperate host. ODBC connection is fine.

2 - Set up network teaming between the two NICs on the new host.

3 - Verified there is no firewall between my desktop and the VC server (internal network). Windows firewall is off for all ends.

4 - Upgraded to the latest and greatest VC.

5 - Bumped up the client connection timeout option in the VI Client

6 - Enable SQL Server Processor Affinity for our MSSQL 2005 DB

7 - Turned off Capacity Planner

I'm starting to run out of options and patience. Does anybody have any ideas what is wrong or any suggestions?

I had the same problem of randomly dropped connections. It was a duplicate IP address! It was mentioned in the host logs Smiley Happy
