VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager (SRM) 4.1 is now Generally Available

Hi Everyone,

VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager 4.1 release is now generally available for download. The primary goal of SRM 4.1 release is to provide support for vSphere 4.1. SRM 4.1 also fixes few key issues with SRM 4.0/4.0.1 release.

Key features and fixes in SRM 4.1 include:

  • Full vSphere 4.1 / vCenter 4.1 Support

  • Support for IP customization of Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 guest OS

  • Improved test recovery times for ESX 4.0.1 hosts using iSCSI arrays

  • Compatibility with vCenter per VM licensing scheme

  • Fixes for vNetwork Distributed Switch environments

Please note that SRM 4.1 requires 64 bit server OS.  Existing SRM customers currently running SRM server on a 32-bit server OS will need to migrate to a 64-bit server OS as part of the SRM 4.1 upgrade process.  Please refer to following resources for additional information:

Per VM license option for SRM will be available from September 1, 2010. Additional information on per VM licensing is available at http://www.vmware.com/support/licensing/per-vm/index.html

In addition, recertification of SRAs (Storage Replication Adapters) provided by SRM storage partners is required for this release.  SRAs that have been certified to work with SRM 4.1 release are listed in the SRM Storage Partner Compatibility Matrix document available at: http://www.vmware.com/pdf/srm_storage_partners.pdf

Additional SRAs will be available shortly. Please make sure that SRAs required for your environment are certified and available for download before upgrading to SRM 4.1.
