Mac Server version of vmware-mount

I recently had a major need for vmware-mount for Linux. This was caused by a RedHat up2date session gone very bad on a VM. Using vmware-mount I was able to recover the critical data from the roasted VM very quickly and got the subject machine up and running as quickly. I decided this was a tool that was going to make it to my flash drive I keep in my pocket in case of emergency. So when I was done with that recovery I figured I might as well look for the Mac version in case I have problems with my OS X server in the same way, and need a last chance recovery method. Can't find one!

Is there no vmware-mount for OS X server or did I look in all the wrong places?

Do you mean VMDKmounter?

You can find it in

/Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/

Hope this helps,

Keep in mind that OS X does not understand ext2/3/4, so even though you can mount the disk with VMDKMounter, you won't be able to fix Linux guests in this manner.

This is correct, but you can also gain access to VMDKs through VMware Shared Folders in a Linux guest OS like Fedora, Ubuntu, etc. I also use Windows Guests to use my favorite Windows virtual disk utility: WinImage.

Thanks - my concern was only with OS X Server VM file systems (where OS X Server is the VM). I have Windows and Linux taken care of. It didn't occure to me the name for the OS X vmware-mounter was not the same as for Linux Smiley Happy
