Hello.

This thread was moved to the ESX 4 forum.

Is the ESX host actually crashing? Can you get local console access? Can you describe more about your setup, like the server, NICs, etc?

Good Luck!

When i go to the console you can get into ALT F1 (and F11) and you can see what you type but it doesnt repsond when you try to log int.

So to your question yep it is the actually ESX Server that is crashing.

It seems to be that when I use SSH tunnels into my ESX box (to bypass a proxy) the machine crashes. This is what happens :

  1. Setup SSH tunnels to box and authenticate.

  2. Connect to vSphere Client

  3. Once finished. I close VI and all 3 SSH Tunnels.

  4. I then try to connect back into the ESX box via SSH but I cannot. It responds to ping but I cant even log into it via the actual console (??)

Has anyone come across anything like this before ??

First of all, you need to check out logs.

Then, keep one ssh session open and tail hostd.log and vpxa.log

I have to admit im using supported hardware but i would still like to know why this sitn working. As it is just a issue when i ssh tunnel i was hoping i may be able to fix it ...

has anyone got a copy of their sshd_config file that I can use to compare against mine. Or any other ideas why this maynot be working ....

Thanks,
