Error with Netapp ESX Host Utilities

When settting up the Netapp ESX Host utilities and running "config_mpath --persitant" we receive an error that it could not connect to the filers. Then looking on the filer there is and HTTP XML Authentication Failure from the ESX host. Any ideas?

Is there any related entries in the hostd or vmkernel logfiles?

Could be the firewall, try "service firewall stop" on the esx host.

There should be something in those other logs that will give more info.

On the filer, try

options httpd.admin.hostsequiv.enable on

And put an entry for your ESX server(s) in /etc/hosts.equiv (IP or hostname or both on separate lines).

Yes, hosts.equiv is normally used for RSH but if you're not using RSH, it won't matter. (ESX doesn't even have RSH.)
