Problem with Oracle11g on openSuse11.1x64

Does anyone try to virtualiza openSuse11.1x64 with Oracle11g on esx4i?

I have a problem with performance (vCPUs are 100% utilized, slow system...).

The same installation I have on the same physical server and everything is ok.

Thanks

Which process is consuming CPU? What are you doing with the DB when CPUs are at 100%? This info can help.

In the past, Enterprise Manager Agent (emagent) had problems with high CPU consumption... Sometimes, you reinstall the agent or resets the agent following an specific procedure described in Metalink and the problem dissapears. Anyway, if you provide more detailed info maybe we can help you.

Cheers,

Paulo.

Thanks.

The user who consumed 90-100% cpu is oracle. And this happens after installation, not yet in production.

Please let me briefly explain the enviroment:

Location A - 3 identical blade server (1xQuad core, 4 GB RAM) with MSA SAS storage. On each of these server I install openSuse + Oracle and on every server is situation ok.

Location B - 3 exactly same blade server like on Loc A, with the same MSA SAS storage. On each of these server I install esx4i, each with openSuse+Oracle. And on every esx server I have a problem with performance. So, every VM has its own physical server, and 4 GB RAM.

When I restart system it seems the performance are ok, but after some time (without any connection on db) the system is slower.

The installation procedure is exactly the same on every server (physical and esx).

I try with 1, 2 4 or 8 vCPU, maybe is something better with more vCPU but this is not it. Vmdk is about 930 GB.

Regards,

Ante
