VMWare Hangs at splash screen on startup of any VM

I was running a VM with XP Pro and had to reboot my laptop. Now when I try to start any VM the program goes to the VMWare spash screen (with the little square), and never leaves. I let it go for an hour, no luck. I have to use task manager to kill the process. THen I have to clean up the ",lck" files. I have several VM's, and it's doing it for all of them.

Environment

Dell Studio XPS 1600 Laptop

Windows 7 x64

4GB RAM

VMWare Workstation V7 (just upgraded from V6)

What is going on?

Once the solution of the similar problem was setting vCPUs number to 1 instead of 2. Do you have 3 vCPU for the VM?

Well, I "resolved" it by uninstalling and reinstalling VMWare. Now it seems to be working.

If it happens again in the near future I'll post here again.
