I have searched for 2 days for an answer before posting this and I have found nothing helpful.
I have ESXi v4.0 Installed on an IBM x3550 Server, I have created 2 VM and I was able to boot the empty image, install windows 2003 R2 X32 and Windows r2 X64 but once the install completes I can no longer use the console When I power on the VM I can see the VMWare bois screen but I can not see the windows Load screen.
I have not installed the VMtools on the VMs yet as I cannot access the consol to do so.
I have tried the resolution trick, Its set to the hightest 32BIt on the XP PRO machine I ran the vshere client from and I have tried connecting to it from a windows 2003 server(via RDP), no change.
Hoestly Im about at my wits end with esxi, can anyone help?
Oh for what its worth I can connect to esxi v3.5 servers and see the VMs consol correclty so I know its not the vSphere client installation.
maybe this will help?

Thanks for the response but I saw this suggestion, I think by you, on another thread. This is not applicable, as he can kind of see the console and belives that its got to do with the user profile, but i just installed the server, I have never loged in, so I feel this is not a correct solution.
I have no access to the console to try this.
Thanks for your participation.

try to disable the SVGA driver and see if that helps
Jeremy,
are you running the correct firmware version. This should be IBM - GGE143AUS-1.14 for the x3550 when using ESX 4.x.
Depending on your server model see http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php

also, you don't need console access to install the tools, simply right click on the gues install/upgrade tool and do automated. Getting the tools on the guest may fix the issue as well.
the kb doesnt apply because i can't get to the server at all.. so I cant make those changes, im running 2003 so not sure SVGA stuff applies..
I am running the latest BIOS 1.15
