SO I have a WIndows Server VM and evertime it re-boots it looks like something done by vmware is trying to login automaitcaly.
how do i stop that ?
as far as i know it is not anything i setup for it to do.
VMware only does this if you use Easy Install because VMware doesn't follow the Microsoft guidelines properly for using "AutoLogon=Yes" in an unattended install because for some reason they refuse to set an "AutoLogonCount" when using "AutoLogon=Yes".
I told them about this two years ago and they still haven't changed it to be as Microsoft designed "AutoLogon=Yes" to be used.
You can use the .reg file previously linked that I posted two years ago or if you want to stop it from happening when installing the you'll have to edit the autounattend.xml and or winnt.sif files in the autoinst.flp file to have the "AutoLogonCount" set to an appropriate value.
This really is a Windows issue and you can use this <a href="http://communities.vmware.com/servlet/JiveServlet/download/898904-7408/Disable_AutoAdminLogon.reg" class="jive-icon-doctype-generic">Disable_AutoAdminLogon.reg</a> file to disable Windows from automatically logging in.
Also you can try: Start > Run > type
control userpasswords2
then click OK or press Enter.I think though that when VMWare created the VM it turned this on... and i am trying to find out how to stop it from doing that.
by default windows server waits for a password.
