Smooth mouse movement

Quick question -

I am trying to get the mouse to work correctly in the VI client console window. (Windows 2003 Enterprise SP2). I understand the requirements - have the latest VMware tools, and hardware acceleration on full and also write combining enabled (whatever that is).

The strange thing is logged on as "administrator" the mouse is perfect as expected. When logged on as another administrator account the mouse is jumpy similar to pre-vmware tools installation.

Any suggestions as to why?

Thanks guys,

Matt

Check if VmTools are loaded also for this user.

Did you verified if "mouse shadow" is enabled?

Also, try to set "Adjust to best performance" on system properties/Advanced/Perfomance/Visual Effects...

You can change mouce performance like

Right click on computer screen go to the properties............then it will open the display properties..........then click on settings..........click on Advanced.........click on Troubleshoot.......change the Hardware acceleration for full

I have had this before, usually removing and re-installing VMware tools fixes it for me.

I've had this problem also, and after comparing a working VM and a problem VM, I noticed that the mouse driver was "PS/2 Compatible Mouse" by Microsoft on the bad one, and "VMware Pointing Device" by VMware on the good one.

Uninstall (via add/remove programs) and re-install of VMware tools corrected this.
