IBM Systems Director 6.1.x can not find ESXi 4?

We have ESXi 4 (IBM Variant and generic from VMware) and we can not seem to get IBM Director 6.1.x to see any 3850, 3950, IBM blade, etc. to discover hardware running ESXi 4. vCenter sees the hardware status just fine, so we know CIM providers are there and function. We did the same basic test with HP hardware and HP SIM, worked, we did have to set HP SIM WBEM to proper values, before we got all messaging right, but HP SIM did see the servers running ESXi on HP hardware fine. Anyone using IBM hardware with ESXi 4 and monitoring via IBM System Director 6.1.x? Have the same issue or not?

IBM Systems Director 6.1.1 does not officially support ESXi 4.0, please refer to the IBM's web site for supported Operating Systems and Virtualization Software:

Please contact IBM to get the latest plan on the support for ESXi 4.0.

Nope, that is incorrect. Web site is out of date. We have it straight from IBM directly that it is supported.

Looks like, and IBM confirmed this, you need IBM Director Server 6.1.1.3, specifically for ESXi 4 support. Have been on vacation for last 3 weeks for was unable to update this thread. Smiley Happy

I'm running ESX4.0, and the latest updated version of IBM Director but the Common Agent wont install via the install wizard... am I missing something like firewall ports?
