Cannot install VMWare DiskMount 5.5 on Windows 7 64bit

The setup program fails. The following message appears in the system event log and seems to be the cause of the installation failure:

The Vstor2 Virtual Storage Driver service failed to start due to the following error:

Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Thanks!

Not really sure if it's supported under 64 bit OS's since it only lists 32 bit in the documentation/requirements here: http://downloads.vmware.com/d/details/disk_mount_utility_5_5_driver_tools/JSpiZGR0cGJkd2U=

But, doing a little more research yielded this page: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2016 With links to this page (supports Windows 7): http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/vddk/ which could allow you to use the tool under Windows 7. You'll need to test it under the Windows 7 x64 OS to see if it will install/run though.

Thanks for the tip!

I installed the Virtual Disk SDK from

http://www.vmware.com/download/download.do?downloadGroup=VDDK-1-1-1

which contains a copy of vmware-mount and the install worked on Windows 7. This allowed me to run vmware-mount.exe and map the vmdk file to a drive letter.

I am not sure about Win7-64 ... on 2k8 R2 64bit the build in mount tool of WS 7 works fine.
