When I launch VMware Fusion on my MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard) a dialogue informing me that a new VMWare Fusion is available (I am running 3.0.1)
The new version is 3.0.2.
Clicking on 'Download and Install" downloaded the update, but did not seem to install it. When i eventually rebooted VMware, I get the same dialogue telling me 3.0.2 is available. Clicking Download & Install quickly reboots VMWare and presents me with the same dialogue.
How can I manually install this update?
Thanks,
Geoff
Hello Geoff. Unfortunately, this community has had constant issues with their notifications. This has continued for at least the 2 years that I've been a member. One would think that they would have had this resolved a long time ago. However, that is not the case and it is extremely frustrating to say the least. For the most part this issue does not effect all users. Fortunately, this time it does, so perhaps something will actually be done to resolve the issue once and for all.
As for continuing to use 3.0.1 I see no reason for you to upgrade if you are not using OSX server.
Cheers
Kevin
There has been some talk of "OS X 10.6 Server". Is that the same as the regular brand Snow Leopard OS, or is it a specialised "server" version?
It is different from the normal version, and has additional programs to help configure and maintain server oriented software. Also note that this update is for people who run OS X 10.6 Server as a guest, not as a host.
I use a Mac with Snow Leopard. VMWare provides a shell for my Windows XP. In this environment, is the 3.0.2 update unnecessary?
There is no reason for you to update.
(It won't install anyway). Just looking for clarification. (I dare not do a reinstall).
Reinstalling Fusion won't affect your virtual machines, and if this is the issue I'm thinking of, you'll need to do this eventually or when an update that you do want comes out, it won't install (via automatic updates, anyway) either.
Thanks for the replies, they're helpful. (...and I had thought the forum was inactive!)
Cheers,
Geoff
