Hello,
We have a system with an RDM formatted in vxvm for symantec puredisk. The RDM is 8TB.
The system is operating within the ESX environment successfully.
The configuration maximums go on about a 2TB maximum but only refer to VMFS partitions.
The question is "Is this supported by vmware"
We are concerned about that the system will not be supported by Vmware. Does anyone know of documentaiton relating to the support of larger volumes.
Cheers
No, it's not supported. And actually it is a bug that allows you to map big volumes in 3.5 - you'll be very unpleasantly surprised when you upgrade your system to 4.0 and it won't work anymore.
Yes, it's frustrating, but we have what we have. VMware works with disks on SCSI-2 protocol, and a lot of engineers awaits improvements in this area.

Probably not.
Like VMFS partition with ESX 3.5 with 2 TB size (the real limit is 2 TB - 512B in vSphere).
If you upgrade to vSphere you will have big problem.

Thanks for the information.
Yep, in 4.0, they "fixed the glitch"
