PVSCSI on Netapp NFS

I know that PVSCSI is supposed to see huge gains when dealing with SAN storage, and no gains for DAS, but what about Netapp using NFS? I can't seem to find any docs that discuss it.

Unfortunatelly you are right -there is no documents, but be sure that everything works fine.

Wait... I'm right that there's no docs that discuss it? I'm not sure I understand your post.

NFS is network shared storage. No local hardware is involved so it would not apply.

Hi, PVSCSI is a disk type of virtual disk or say a scsi controller, which is use by VM.

Therefore, wherever the VM stands on SAS, NAS, FC, or so.

If you are using NAS to store VMs, just use PVSCSI VMs with no hestitate, as it has better performance than lsi.

While the OS supporting pvscsi are listed as below:

Windows 2008 (32 and 64 bit)

Windows 2003 (32 and 64 bit)

RHEL 5 (32 and 64 bit) including all updates No boot disk support.

Just use lsi vmdk, and vm tool will install all drivers to enable pvscsi.

You can find the hint in the attached pic.

Hope it will help you.
