I'm running a small test lab for the product I work on and we have been using vApps to manage various testing environments. We are running ESX4 and vCenter Server. It seems to be a no-brainer that a person would want to do a simultaneous snapshot of the entire vApp's state from the vSphere Client. Is this feature even a glimmer in the eye of the VMWare team? If so, what would likely be the timeframe?
Thanks!
I had also thought about this feature as well, though vApps is really acting as a logical container that contains meta data and policies around a set of VMs, I dont' know if it makes sense but I can see the use for it. I don't imagine it being too difficult to figure out the VMs under the vApp and just call the CreateSnapshot_Task() and this can easily be scriptable but I don't know if VMware would consider it. You can always file a feature request with VMware about this idea

Take a look at this script which does exactly what you're asking for, though it's not via vCenter UI but you can still automate various snapshot and power operations.
