scripted installation + esx 4 update 1 build 208167 + WrappedVmkctException

I was trying to do dome scripted installation in our lab with update 1. I coouple of months ago i was also testing scripted installations with ESX 4 and this went oke.

But now i get the following error:

WrappedVmkctlException (Unable to immediately obtain a dynamic address for this Interface. The DHCP server may be slow or unreachable.

What am i doing wrong?

By any chance are you installing into a virtual machine? I remember an error similar to that popped up when the virtual nic didn't have permission to use promiscuous mode. What does your setup look like?

Hi Patrick,

Inside a vm you have to enable promisciuous mode. But i am testing on a physical box. IBM x3850M2

Fixed it. Was my bad i forgot to run dos2unix on my kickstart file, which i edited with notepad.

Hm. The scripted install process should be able to handle both \n and \r\n line endings. Was there some other interesting character in your ks file?
