Thanking you in advance,

I would just go through the normal process of putting my host into "maintence" mode and then performing the HBA upgrade. This is the method I use for any hosts in my PROD cluster.

you will need to get the WWN's off the new HBA and give them to your SAN administrator to re-zone the storage. Once that has been done, you should be able to rescan your storage adapters and the LUNs should should backup.
Hi troy and all,
The Zoning part is fine, I kinda knew that, but I am more interested to know what are the VMware official step by step and I mean:
Should I put the host in maintenance mode first. Them should I migrate all the VMs off, shutdown my ESX server, change the HBA, re-zone storage, etc.
You know what I am getting at? I have been trying to find a step by step guide from VMware which goes through this steps without success.
Thanking you in advance,

I don't know if there are official VMware steps, because it's a hardware thing, but if there is, it would be in this document

....yes, migrate all the guests, put host in maitnenace mode, due hardware replacement, re-zone, power on host and maybe a rescan of your storage adapters.
Just gone through the exercise to replace HBAs on our production ESXi cluster. Hope these steps help.
Cheers!!
