fedora core 11 install and fusion

Hi,

I recently installed the 3.0 upgrade for fusion. I downloaded 64 bit fedora core 11 and am trying to setup a virtual machine. I pointed fusion to the image on my desktop and selected "other linux 2.6 kernel 64 bit" (or whatever the exact phrasing is). Then the installer just hangs. I see a single line that says "ISOLINUX 3.75 2009-04-16..." Any suggestions? Do I need to actually burn a DVD for the installer to work? Thanks,

D

JSYK Fedora 11 (not core and hasn't been core since 6) is not supported under VMware Fusion 3 (). That said, not supported and will it work can be two different things and while you may get it installed you still may have problems getting VMware Tools installed and working properly.

The fact that you're stuck at that point in the boot process I'd check to see that the checksums for the ISO you downloaded matches what's published. Have a look at: Verify your ISO download

No you do not need to first burn to optical media and I would not do it without first verifying the checksums on the ISO you downloaded if you choose to burn it. BTW Installing directly from ISO Image is much, much faster then from optical media even when reading/writing from the same drive.

I've had no problems creating a f11 vm guest under 3.0. I pointed fusion to the iso, selected linux other and made sure I was pretty close to the kernel version that the second drop down box provided (I'm going on memory here). Anyways I used the 32bit version of fedora which may be why it worked. I really didn't have to do anything different with the fedora 11 install then any other OS I installed under fusion, including ubuntu, windows or what have you.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the help/info. There was indeed a checksum error on that image. I redownloaded and this time there were no corruptions. I started running the installer and things are go smoothly. Thanks!
