VMHA and VMFT

Hi All,

I want to know whether VMHA aVMFT are inter linked.

If we configure VMHA does VMFT also has to be configured.

What is the difference between VMHA and VMFT.

Also I need to make a document on VMHA as my topic is High Availability , do I need to mention about VMFT also in it?

Please advice Smiley Happy

Thanks,

J

VMware HA provide the heartbeat framework to check if node are ok.

It can restart the VM if a node does not respond.

(Also can monitor VM heartbear to restart a VM if it hang).

But it simple do a restart = some minutes of downtime!

VMware FT is a VM state replication technology that can build a standby VM on another ESX.

It must be a feature of HA, cause HA monitor the hosts status and if a VM is protected by FT, HA does not restart the VM, but simple enable the standby VM.
