Failed to create the requested registry key error: 1021

Hi All,

I have windows 7 professional 64bit os and trying to install vmware workstation 7 but keep getting this error. I have tried to run in vista and xp compatible mode but no success also tried run as administrator still no joy. Some one had the same problem and they were using the same os i tried what they tried but it didn't work for me which was to start the install with -L English parameter. Its seems like it worked for them.

Thanks

try to create

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.

manually before starting the installation

the installer often messes up permissions for this key

Do you have VT enable in your computer's BIOS?

Doesn't work if you don't have rights to start regedit.exe due to corporate policies.

Although I have the right, I create the registry key, but cannot set access permission on it.

What other options do I have?

I'm on 64bit Windows 7 Enterprise.

I tried starting Vmware as well as regedit.exe with "run as admin", but to no avail.
