Did you have a successful V3 upgrade? Post here to let others know... That is, with all the license system issues I know I'm wondering myself whether to wait for the first patch release of v3 before moving. It would be great to hear of the success stories that help convince us once we get v3 we can do the upgrade without issues... Just a "all good" would even suffice.

Yes I did.

I connected to the web site without any problems, got to upgrade my 1.x licence without problems either.

I have since installed and upgraded my windows XP, NetWare and Kubuntu sessions successfully.

I had good luck. Didn't preorder it, I've been a Fusion user since v1. Jumped on the web site about an hour after midnight (central time). I bought it, got my code instantly and downloaded it.

I installed it this morning. I didn't really upgrade as much as removed v2 first, nuked my virtual machine file and installed v3 from scratch. Then I installed Win7 Ultimate x64 from an ISO file and I've had no problems. It's even running Aero which is really cool to see.

So I have no complaints.

I realize a lot of people will want to be keeping their virtual machines from older versions and because I didn't is one reason it went so smooth for me. Under Fusion v2 I had an RC of Win7 that I'd kind of abandoned because I was waiting for Fusion v3 and WIn7 to be officially released.

I bought v2 about a week ago. Downloaded v3 last night and tried to get my license working. After reading the blog post about us getting an email later this week. So now I have a trial of v3 running while waiting for my license

No! After upgradeing my ethernet controller / network adapter driver can not be found with Windows 7. Tried un-installing & re-installing VMWare Tools. No luck! Any help appreciated.

I just purchased, downloaded and installed Fusion v.3 about 9:00AM Pacific time with no problems. A small problem installing Windows 7 was solved by following the directions of another poster on this thread...

So far most of the stuff is up ok. Seems we've lost headerless mode menu item (once set in the vmx). It looks like 3.0 automatically changes the gui.viewModeAtPowerOn to windowed. Powering off and changing the vmx to gui.viewModeAtPowerOn = "none" fixes the issue. Liked the ability to flip between headerless & windowed in 2.0 so hope they'll bring that back. On the plus side, it's nice they've added the VNC settings to the advanced options

Purchased the upgrade & downloaded around 8:20am Mountain Time today. Got my serial number with no problems. Ran the install and upgraded with no issues. Running Windows 7 VM & Windows XP Boot Camp partitions with no issues. Looks good so far.

Upgraded to version 3 around 8.00pm GMT yesterday. No big problems here, and had a smooth upgrade.

The only small bug I've noticed, is that if I switch an app to Unity, then back to single window mode, then back to Unity, the Window size gets messed up.

Apart from that, it seems faster, less Hard-drive intensive and I'm overall pleased with the new version.

No new program icon though

My install went perfectly. I made my purchase around 6:00 AM Pacific and had no problems with purchase. It was confusing when I was asked for my product key which was pre-populated with my 2.0 key but what it really wanted was the "activation code" sent in the email. That was the hardest part for me. All I had to do was click and wait and my XP virtual machine was up and running.

My subjective experience is that while it's much, much better than 2.0.5 or 2.0.6 with Snow Leopard, I still don't think it's as snappy as 2.0.5 + Leopard was. I've asked in another thread if there are some ways to tune performance on my nearly new MBP.

The most notable issue is with Outlook. When I'm in Unity mode with Outlook running, I get pop-ups when new emails come in. The outline of the pop-up shows but it is otherwise blank inside.

Yes, no issues at all. Took about 10 minutes. Boots a little faster. 3D works for my mapping programs. (Haven't tried Google Earth yet)

Went from 2.05 to 3, XP on 10.5.8 on Quad core Xeon. Pretty uneventful except waiting for a bunch of XP updates to install.

It was quite painless. The upgrade went very quickly and I ran it all day yesterday with no problems. I even enabled 3-D acceleration, which had been unstable for me in the past. FYI, I don't use Unity or the default apps features. Graphics and Gaming Graphics Experience Index categories rose from 1.0 to 2.0 and 1.0 to 3.0, respectively. Other categories were unchanged.

I don't. Just downgraded back to fusion 2.06 after severe performance problems with 3.0.0

3.0.0 runs my linux and windows VM's significantly slower then 2.X

I have a compile job that runs 59 seconds on 2.0.6 and 99 seconds on 3.0.0

-> Ordering Fusion update was not straight forward (order form on web listed my license key, but asked for it anyway...)

-> License came after 2 hours, that's ok

-> Updating Fusion w/o problem

-> Running Fusion w/o problem (so far)

-> User experience with Fusion: I'm disappointed, but that's a problem of my exception, not of the delivery of the product (I'm still waiting on the snapshot tree as in Workstation, without that, more than one snapshot is nearly pointless for me)

I upgraded from 2.06 to 3.0 on a MacBook Pro running 10.6.1 without issue. My original license key was for 1.0. Yesterday I purchased the upgrade + subscription (not much info on the subscription, so I would like to read more about that) and went about working for the day on my VM in 2.06. By the end of the day, I found the "VMware - Order confirmation for order #..." email had arrived. Backed up my Win7 VM, ran setup, entered the new activation code, enabled 3D on my VM, and started up without a problem. After upgrading VMware Tools and rebooting the VM, Aero is enabled and I have had no problems yet.

Two questions about 3.0:

1. It seemed like the recommendation on 2.x was that one virtual processor usually out performs two. Is that still the same on 3.0?

2. I'm interested in how I have Aero (thank you very much) but my User Experience Index is still 1. How is this accomplished? Can someone point me to info where I can read about this further?
