I'm currently running two stand-alone ESX 3.5 servers and use the "Generate Remote Console URL" feature under Web Access to give access to certain VM consoles. I will probably be upgrading to vSphere in a few months and I'm debating on using ESX or ESXi (on a USB stick). Does vCenter support this custom URL feature to give access to VM consoles? I don't want to have to use the VI client to do all of my management, as the web access is real handy. If it doesn't, I guess I have to stick with ESX.
Thanks!
Joe P.
Yes the functionality is still there with vSphere.
You can even use this vSphere SDK for Perl script to generate the remote URLs:

Thanks for the info. The only reason I ran ESX was for the web access feature, but if vCenter can offer that then I can switch over to ESXi.
