As part of an effort to do a "P2V", I'm re-installing XP Pro in the virtual machine as an "upgrade", so it would rewrite the proper drivers etc. and hopefully keep all the apps as they are.
When it gets to entering the Product Key during the XP Setup, I can't type anything. The mouse stops moving and the keyboard doesn't work. It seems to happen as soon as the (physical) CD is opened or closed, but even avoiding that, it gets past the first page (asking if I want to change keyboard or time zone, I think) and stops right after clicking in the blank for the Product Key.
Obviously, people have been able to install XP on a VM. So what's the trick?
