I understand that when a DRS Resource Pool is created the Resource Pool is actually created on each ESX host in the DRS cluster. What I don't understand is how each ESX "host" resource pool calculates its Reservation and Limit.
For example, assume I have 10 ESX hosts in a DRS cluster with a total of 252GHz of CPU and 320GB of physical memory. I create a Resource Pool in the DRS cluster that defines an 800Mhz reservation. When I connect to each ESX host in the DRS cluster and look at the reservation for the Resource Pool I see that the Resource Pool has wildly different reservation information (to be expected); but how does it calculate the Reservation for each ESX host in the cluster?
Also, assuming I reserve more CPU MHz in the resource pool than any individual ESX host has (for example, I reserve 40Ghz on the Resource Pool) how does this work when a VM can only run on one host anyway?
Thanks in advance.
see the Resource Management Guide
Of course I have read the documentation. Not to say I couldn't have missed the information somewhere in the Resource Mgmt Guide. Would you be willing to provide a page reference? Thank you.
Thank you, I found an answer to my question.
