Hello Everyone,
I am installing ESX 4.0 on one of my DL380 G4 at home and wanted to know if anyone else has given this a go and what the results were?
My Setup:
ESX 4.0
DL380 G4,
2x3.4GHz Zeon's
4gb RAM
2x32GB RAID 1+0
FreeNAS for VM storage.
ESX 3.5
DL380 G4,
2x3.4GHz Zeon's
12gb RAM
2x32GB RAID 1+0
FreeNAS for VM storage.
As a standalone server you should be ok as long as your CPU supports 64bit.
I just installed vsphere in 2 dl360g4p

ok interesting... so i just got the first error after the install finished!
TSC: 1049520 cp0:0)Init: 461: The Execute Disabled/No Execute CPU feature is not enabled for this machine.
So after going into the bios and changing this option I dont get the error anymore!
The image didn't seem to attach correctly.
Check these release notes
http://www.vmware.com/support/vsphere4/doc/vsp_esx40_vc40_rel_notes.html
The error you are getting is listed.

I got the same message on the DL360 g4p I installed vsphere. Just go to the BiOS under the advanced options and enable the "disable no execute CPU feature"

Hello,
Whether a DL380G4 will be supported will depend I believe on the CPUs used within the chassis. Other than the CPUs, there should be no major issues.

I have the same message with my HP DL380 G4 and your help works fine, no more error. Thanks for all, you are great :smileycool:
Hi
i saw this posting and i have only 2 question and hope somebody can help me in this case
I want buy a DL360 G4p 2x Xeon-3GHz i saw this server can also take S-AtA Harddisk.
Can i use this Server with S-ATA with ESXI? and is there also working 64 bit Vmwares like Exchange 2007 ?
Thanky very much for youre Help
It'll depend on the model of controller. Would you know what it has? For running 64 bit VMs, the CPUs will need to support Intel VT.
