Access to VA Marketplace through a proxy

Hi all,

I've just installed an ESX and a Windows 2008 64 bits VM with the VI Client 4.

Using the VI Client 4, I would like to test in "Getting started" tab : Deploy from VA Marketplace. It's suggested in the "Getting started documentation".

Well, when I click on it, It displays a list of virtual appliance.

Question 1 : how this list is updated ?

Question 2 : how to download a VM through a proxy ?

When I click on a VM to download it, I get

An error occured while reading the URL:

The remote server returned an error : (407) Proxy Authentification Required.

On the ovftool user guide, I found page 22 that one can specify a proxy and the credentials.

How to do it under VI Client ?

Thanks

Best regards

ML

I think the vSphere client would connect to the VA marketplace using the InternetExplorer proxy settings. Can you try to add proxy setting in your IE and check it up!

Good idea, but I had already configured a proxy in IE.So this is not the cause of the pb.

With IE, I can connect to internet after giving credentials.

As per the error, the proxy is reachable but the authentication is a problem as there doesn't seem to be an option in IE. So it means the client picks up the proxy details from IE. But I think there has to be an option in vCenter server atleast..

PS: Can you try password less proxy? Or allow one IP in your proxy server to connect directly to the Internet.

You're right, according the message, VI Client get the proxy but it fails to ask credentials.

I take a look in the VIClient interface and I did not found a parameter to set credentials.

But I did not read all the documentation yet.

And I can't try a password less proxy. It's not allowed there Smiley Happy

Has anyone found a fx for this yet - I too have the same problem - I can get to the internet site without requiring a username and password - but when I try the Deploy OVF Template and deploy from URL i get "THE REMOTE SERVER RETURNED AN ERROR: (407) Proxy Authentication required.

I think this has to come up with vmware as a new feature request.

Btw wat does happen when one does save/remember the password in IE? n

then access VA marketplace via the client?

Hi,

My password is remembered, but on IE, I have to click ok, even if my credential are already stored in the dialog box.

Ok, I post the suggestion on vmware suggestions community

Is there a solution for this proxy problem? We use a proxy without authentication,it's set up in IE (IE Internet Access is working) but no download of OVF via Internet in vcenter is possible Smiley Sad
