The benefits of VMXNet 3 - 10 GBps ?

Hi All,

I've just noticed that by upgrading the VM Hardware version into 7 and then installing the latest VMWare tools, we can get the option to use Enhanced VMXNet 3 NIC,

which in my Windows Server 2003 x64 Std VM it give me 10 GBps bandwidth, is this really makes any difference or just a bug in the bandwidth display ?

Thanks.

Kind Regards,

AWT

Thanks for posting the result here, I can see that by using VMXNet 3, the CPU utilization is lower to transmit large file.

but for the Jumbo frame, i think my current Windows Server 2003 Std doesn't support it, there fore i can't use it in my iSCSI environment.

You can use Jumbo Frambe also with vmxnet2 (enhanced vmxnet).

But you have to configure the right MTU on your switches (physical and virtual) and also on your storage.
