        I dont understand how you get 134 MB pr. second through a 1 Gbit connection? The Teoretical Maximum is 1024/8 = 128 MB pr. second.

            Some interesting comparison between ESX 3.5 and ESX 4, and looks like the Server HBAs are hitting the maximum transfer rate (with the great Infortrend boxes and Max Throughput-50%Read)... amazing

                I agree with you, there is a lot I dont understand here. People running IO meter left and right and posting the results without regard for applications need for latency, network infrastr. etc. Oh well so long the results are not taken seriously

                    I did some more testing here. Most of it was done in Windows Server 2008 x64 with the default virtual LSI controller on different RAIDs and different number of disks. I also tested the paravirtual driver (on 2008) and Windows Server 2003r2 x32 for comparisons sake.

                            After you have finished running your iometer test you will have a results.csv file that you can open in Excel (or openoffice calc). Convert the data from comma seperated to text and all the values you need will be ready for you.

                              Lars very good info. So the raid triangle still works . Raid 10 still the fasted.  Raid5 faster than Raid in real life and random 8K

                                Thanks Lars.  I've opened it in excel and you said convert data from comma separated to text.  I'm not sure where I'm suppose to do that.

                                 

                                I've attached a copy of my results.csv.  Any chance you could convert it Excel and highlight the cells I'm suppose to look at and send it back to me in Xls format? 

                                 

                                That would help me out immensely.
