Bridged network connection not working in 2.0.5 after update

I updated from 2.0.4 to 2.0.5 yesterday. I had no previous network problem, but after starting up with 2.0.5 I could no longer used my bridged network connection (got an alert saying it was not available or not working--sorry, I don't remember the exact wording). The NAT would connect, but I can't use it for work. I need the bridged connection at work to connect to appropriate secure servers, so after a half hour and a couple of trial reboots later I uninstalled 2.0.5 and re-installed 2.0.4. I immediately got my bridged network connection back. Thought I would mention it both so VMWare knows about it, and other users are aware of it.

My Mac is an aluminum iMac running 10.5.7 with a 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo and 4 GB SDRAM.

I've experienced the same problem at first, but in my case it was just a matter of updating the VMWare tools inside my image. It's quite common, after each Fusion (or VMWare Workstation) update, that we have also to update the VMWare tools within the image. In my case the small VMW Tools icon displayed a warning icon in the taskbar, signaling it had to be updated.

After updating the tools and restarting the image, bridged mode works fine.

HTH.

I tried that too, thinking that would solve the problem, but for me it didn't.

I had bridged mode and NAT not working. Updating tools and a restart in the guest did nothing. NAT mode showed that I recieved an address but I couldn't actually get to anything outside of the host box. Restarting OSX seemed to fix both network modes. Maybe this behavior was noted in a README that I didn't read. :smileysilly:
