I'm trying to get the following working:
-HP ThinPro t5545 thin client, with the View 3.0 client (3.1 not yet available) and the RDP enhancements client component (version 4966) installed
-View 3.1 Connection Server
-XP SP3 virtual desktop with the HP RDP enhancements 'server' component installed
I can't get the USB redirection to work. What happens is that, once connected, the HP USB redirector app which has its icon in the tray reports "client software not detected".
Interestingly, if I connect directly to the virtual desktop using the t5545's RDP client (i.e. not using the View client), the client software is detected and a USB flash drive plugged into the front of the device shows up as a USB device within the virtual desktop.
One other thing I tried was to uninstall the View agent inside the virtual desktop and reinstall it without its own USB redirector piece. I did this because I figured that this might conflict with the HP 'server' component installed into the VM. This made no difference.
There are a number of things that I would imagine come into play here:
a) the t5545 View 3.0 client settings
b) the settings within the t5545's Control Panel (I ensured that Mass Storage Devices was selected)
c) The View Agent installed components (i.e. whether to install the USB redirector or not)
d) The HP 'server' component (not that there's much to configure with that)
Anyone have any idea which combination of settings/options I need to set in order to get this working? Or perhaps it's not working because I need the as-yet unreleased View 3.1 client for the t5545..?
