I wants to install additional NIC following is my current set-up
1. ESX 3.5.0 U3 (Build 123630)
I wants to install D-link NIC and model is DGE-530T
I have copied (install-8_23.tar.bz2) and install successfully on server.
check using "modprobe sk98lin" and found eth0 .( means NIC is detected)
However, i am unable to find NIC on ESX server.
Can anyone suggest how to proceed further...
Thanks
Bhavik
Have you confirmed that this NIC is on the Hardware Compatability Lists? -
Just adding the drivers into the service console will not let your ESX hosts use the new NIC -

Bhavik,
I don't see any DLINK NICs on the HCL
It means that i need to physically change the network card which is compatible with esx.
Thanks
ESX :smileyinfo: doesn't come with a dlnk driver and you can't add Linux drivers as the drivers have to be specifically compiled for ESX(i) even though Liunx source is sometimes used for the drivers. This list will give you an idea of what ESXi can recognize (this list is simlar for ESX) - http://www.vm-help.com/esx40i/Hardware_support.php. If you have an Intel Pro 1000 or Broadcom 57xx around you might want to try those.
I've tried several D-Link card but without make them work.
Or the card is in official HCL, or is in unofficial HCL (http://www.vm-help.com), or is quite impossible to use it.
