vShere keep crashing

Hello,

I was looking forward in using vShere when it came out. To my surprise i was very wrong. In my opinion its not ready for production. It should have been in betta.

1. One of my ESX keeps crashing for no reasong. Never happen in 3.5 u4

2. For some weird reasong I cannot clone my vm. On the same network where vcenter located. I am able to clone esx on remote site.

3. Resently i installed second esx server and networking was not working. It was giving some random ip adresses to my network ports.

Has any one experience similar issue and have a suggestoin for my randong crashes. Please see image attach.

Thanks in advance,

Roman

Was ESX 3.5 U4 installed on the same exact system? If so did you upgrade or is it a fresh install. If it is a upgrade could you disable system agents that you may have installed on the console?

If it is a new system and you never had ESX 3.5u4 running on it before without any problems then I would most likely suspect the hardware. Most hardware systems record hardware events in a log that is accessible in the BIOS, please check that.

PSOD shows that CPU0 locked up and never recieved timer interrupts and thats why vmkernel had to BSOD after a timeout.

I wonder if you are referring to IP-address range hints in the UI. You should probably open a different thread for this issue with more details.

Please also open a separate thread for this issue, so these issues could be tracked separately.

Your hardware in is HCL (may change from ESX 3 to ESX 4)?

Roman,

Your PSOD image shows that a dump was written. You should now run `vm-support`, which will create an archive of system information including the panic dump. Open a VMware Support ticket and send them the vm-support archive. The dump will most likely identify the problem.

There isn't a very good way to do dump analysis through the forums. However, if you give a detailed description of the system hardware, someone may figure it out without needing to look at the dump.

I upgraded my system using iso image from esx 3.5u4. After upgrade all of my stuff was deleted from the server. Therefore I believe that upgrading from 3.5 to 4 its like installing fresh installation. However, i installed fresh version of vcenter.

For some weird reasong I cannot clone my vm. On the same network where vcenter located. I am able to clone esx on remote site.

Will do

I couldn't figure out how to find my hardware in the compatibility app you gave me. I am using SuperMicro Motherboard x7dva-8 for all of my esx servers. I only have one server that is crashing. Could that be bad cpu's? My server has virtualization option support for the cpu in my bios section.

i will defiantly send the dump to the support. i just wanted to check if someone is experiencing similar problems. Regarding my hardware. I am using Supermicro x7dva-8 motherboard. Intel xeon 5150 @ 2.66ghz 18gb of ram.
