P2V Conversion of Windows 2008 DC

Are there any best practices on p2v-ing a Windows 2008 Standard, 32bit server? I am currently trying to do this, but am experiencing agent install issues.

Can you perform an offline conversion of this system, and if so, where can I find the CD?

VMware Converter 3.0.3 Enterprise has a coldclone.iso, but 2008 is not supported. Can I ask why you wouldn't want to just create a new VM and run dcpromo instead of a P2V?

The reasson for the p2v conversion is that I do not want the hassle of reinstalling the OS, new server name, configuring FRS/DFS, when I can also do a p2v conversion.

It just seems a more logical approach, this way I do not have to reinstall/reconfigure anything. Are you asking this because this method is not a common practice? I am a novice in the virtualization world, so it's very well possible that I am making the wrong decision here...

Here's a thread that was opened a few days ago that links other threads. Most people prefer not the P2V a DC.
