Host connection state not responding

We have recently placed two ESX 3.5 U2 hosts (build 120512) at an offsite location (on the same subnet approximately 10 miles away from our main location), and approximately 4-7 times per day I receive a VC (v2.5 build 104215) alert that the 'host connection state is not responding' even though noting went down. I believe it is a latency issue, being the two ESX hosts in question are offsite. None of our other 15 ESX host (at our main location) experience this issue. Is there a way to change the duration of how often VC contacts the ESX hosts? If there is, would this be recommended? We have a monitoring tool called 'Orion' which does not report that these host are down. Ibelieve Orion contacts our servers via 'ping' every 1-2 minutes.

The only other option I can think of is to create a rule to send an alert when the host is responding?

HI,

I can suggest you something here.

Not sure if this is suggested, on the VC, go to the datacenter, and check for the alarms defined there.

In the definitions, try to select the host connection state alarm.

here select the triggers, and under the alert option you see "not responding".

Try to change it to "disconnected".

now you will get the alert when the machis is disconnected, and not when the machine shows not responding,

but you have to check manually, if the machine is responding or not once in a while, as VC will not alert you in this case.
