Unfortunately, after years of repeated requests (with good business cases for it), VMware still will not give USB support for ESX/ESXi. Your only option is a USB-over-Ethernet device (whether hardware or software running on another PC somewhere).
Hi,
It is not possible to use USB dongle on ESX. However, it is possible to use USB over IP solution like:

At first I also questioned why they would not allow this, but it kind of makes sense. Any hardware device like a USB dongle will break VMotion, HA, etc. Previous mentioned USB over Ethernet seem to be the best option because that dongle would then be available anywhere the guest OS is running.
Hi, Kevin and other users!
I see that this question remains unresolved. Maybe he will not help you, but at the moment I have found a solution to this problem. Suddenly it will be useful for someone to find out.
Now Flexihub is struggling with this problem. in all respects, he manages to combine the transfer of USB and work on a virtual machine.
Our programmers have set up, there were no problems.
Hey, there is still a special program for remote access to the dongle. Donglify has a multi-connection, which is very beneficial for office workers.
