VMWare Update Manager using existing SQL server

Aloha,

I am installing VMWare Update Manager, and I want to use an existing SQL2k server instead of 2k5 Express. The manual says nothing (that I can see) about what has to be done on the SQL side. Can someone please help??

Mahalo, Bill

I have just created new DB with same config as for VirtualCenter DB and is working ok. Dont know of any official guide for VUM database.

Hope that helps.

I agree setup a seperate databse for the Update Manager database and add another ODBC connection. Ensure that this is less than 10 characters and has no spaces e.g. VMUM not the defaults provided otherwise you will get error 25036 or 25003. Also the miminum spec for VC2.5 on SQL2000 is SP4.

I have the same problem using SQL 2005 and i added a new ODBC connection to the database db also usign a name that contain less 10 caracters (but i think that is not important the number of caracters on the DSN name).

Have someone find a solution to that problem?
