VM Performance readings

There is a good chance I'm going to be allowed to reduce the number of virtual CPUs from 2 vCPU to 1 vCPU on our exchange server. I was wondering if there is a way to monitor / document the performance changes? I read somewhere that the performance tools you would normally use for a physical Windows server are skewed in the results since they're getting varied virtual hardware. Obviously I would look at the VIC for CPU / Memory performance but I was more looking for performance stats within the VM.

Thanks

are you running vCenter U4? You can get some good information from the performance overview plugin, as well as the ESXTOP. Beyond that, I came across Duncans article regarding vscsi, although I haven't used it, it may be worthwhile checking out

Not running U4 yet, usually we wait a month or two after the release to make sure there are no big bugs before upgrading. I'll check out the document thanks.
