RDP session is slow the first time to get the login screen

When i connect in rdp session to a virtual server, the first time it's always slower (maybe 5 secondes more than on the physical) to have the login screen compare to a physical server. The second time it's fast like a physical server. Anybody have this problem or know what to do

Thanks for helping me!

We are experiencing this same issue on one of our virtual servers. This is a windows 2003 R2 server that was cloned from a template. We have many terminal servers running virtually and they do not seem to exhibit this same issue. Could this be an issue with the OS build? Just like blvsupport after you connect to the server the first time the subsequent connections occur much faster.

Are there 1054 errors logged in the system log? Slow logon of systems on a AD domain is often due to network communication issues with DC. If this system is a member of an AD domain check for erros in the system log that indicate communication issues with the Domain.

We are experiencing the slowness before we even get to the login screen. The virtual machine just takes along time to respond to RDP requests. Once it is connected however, there does not seem to be any sluggishness. Any thoughts?

Hello,

in 2018 on several 2012R2-servers I still have the same issue.

I start a RDP-session and get a black screen for 10 seconds to 1 minute or more before it es possible to enter my credentials.

Then the login appears and I can enter username and password.

If I close the session without logging in and I start the session again there is no delay.

In nearly a second the login windows is there.

It ist the same in a powershell.

For example I send an Invoke-Command -ScriptBlock { Get-Date } -ComputerName %COMPUTERNAME% I wait the same time to get the result.

If send the command a second time the result shows up in seconds.
