Windows 2008 on VMWare

I am trying to install Windows 2008 Web Edition on VMWare and I continue to get an I/O error. The error status is: 0xc00000e9. Says:

"This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as external USB drive while the device is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD-ROM drive that is failing. Make sure any removable storage is properly connect and then restart your computer"

Any ideas?

Yep, I think the problem is with my DVD. Not sure why, I installed Fedora 10 and Windows XP Pro without a problem. I will have to get a new CD or make an ISO out of this one.

Is it a usb cdrom/dvd? If yes, it could be an IRQ conflict. ISOs have always worked better in my experience.

No, I am using the one on my laptop. Yet my laptop is a Mac Running windows xp virtually so it is going through three virtual machines. That might be the problem, but I will try it with an ISO instead. Just have to get one.

While we are on that subject, have you tried using Windows 2008 on a domain as a member server? I can't seem to get group policy to work. Windows 2008 is very different than other Windows, and we have every flavor from XP, Vista, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, even Windows 7 and for the life of me Windows 2008 doesn't play nicely with group policy. And the weird part is, our Domain Controllers ARE Windows 2008, but other non-DC Servers won't accept any of the group policy.

I realize this is VM Ware and not Microsoft, but since you have it running, I figured I would ask Smiley Happy

Ok, now I'm confused. Are you having an issue with ESXi or with Fusion?

Not seeing the group policy issues with our W2K8 servers in general. I say "in general" because I have not looked to see if they get all the settings. Our logon legal text is there, patch policies, acct settings, password restrictions, etc all seem to be there. Our DCs are W2K3.
